Spectrum are delighted to be celebrating the first anniversary of the V&A Museum in Dundee, which we have helped to maintain since it opened last September.

V&A is a world-renowned name, not only in the arts and design sector but for consumers worldwide. Designed by acclaimed Japanese architect, Kengo Kuma and associates, the museum explores the global importance of design, while showcasing Scotland’s exceptional design works.

The 8000m² state-of-the-art Dundee museum sits on the River Tay, amid the new £1 billion waterfront transformation, and has unquestionably played a significant role in Dundee’s recent success. Having welcomed over 830,000 visitors in its first year, it’s not hard to understand why Dundee is becoming the creative heart of Scotland.

In just 12 months, the V&A Museum Dundee has achieved a lot, from visits by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, to even making the front cover of TIME Magazine as one of the world’s ‘Greatest Places of 2019’. It is estimated that the museum has had a positive economic impact of over £23 million across Scotland in its first year, supporting 604 full-time equivalent jobs.

It’s true what they say; time does fly when you’re having fun. Spectrum is so proud to have been part of maintaining the excellent standards of the V&A brand. Our team have had the pleasure of delivering cleaning services, including daily cleaning in the office and associated areas, break out areas, the canteen, showers and locker rooms, sanitary and washroom facilities, provision of consumables, window cleaning, provision of day-time janitorial services, as well as a quarterly deep clean.

Working alongside the V&A Museum has reminded us of the satisfaction in delivering services in large scale visitor centres, and it has enhanced our experience and knowledge of working within this sector, ultimately preparing us to take on more similar contracts.

We are looking forward to continuing to keep the museum clean, safe and comfortable for all staff and visitors, as well as celebrating more successes soon.
