The BBC at the Quay was a major music and entertainment festival run by the BBC at their Scottish HQ in Glasgow during September 2014.
The outdoor event was planned to coincide with the 2014 Commonwealth Games hosted by the City of Glasgow, and event Spectrum were also delighted to be involved with. You can read more about the Commonwealth Games contract here.
Lasting 10 days, the event saw many well know stars from the world of sport and entertainment vivit the venue to entertain the thousands of fans who gathered during the event. In addition, much of the BBC at the Quay event was broadcast live to many countries around the world.
Spectrum provided cleaning and waste management services in the public areas, backstage, technical areas, hospitality and VIP areas, keeping them clean and tidy for celebrities, presenters, officials, and members of the public. Due to the live broadcast element of the daily events, it was essential that Spectrum worked closely with the organisers to ensure our teams were able to work around the movement of crowds, entertainers, official, and technicians with no disruption to the schedule. Careful advance planning, top quality training, and adequate briefings to all staff were all key to the success of this contract. We were delighted with the outcome as was the client.
